BGR has been carrying out projects with the Geological Survey of Namibia (GSN) for over 20 years. The current project „Sustainable use of Namibia's mineral resource potential II“ supports the Department of Economic Geology of GSN in examining the economic viability of domestic raw materials and using them for value creation.
The joint project of GSN and BGR focuses on non-metallic raw materials. One part of the project is the production of thematic maps on various topics related to non-metallic raw materials. Here, extensive existing data is processed and new data is collected. Deposits of selected raw materials are to be represented qualitatively and quantitatively on the basis of current data. The map developments are accompanied by training courses on thematic maps and efficient data management.
